Pahalgam to Doodal Glacier

Category:

Chandanwari is the starting point for the annual Amarnath Yatra. It has a snow bridge over river. One can sledge over the snow bridge. One can go upto Doodal Glacier in a day’s return trek. Along with special significance, this pristine valley is also known for its snow bridge and serves as an excellent hiking destination among the troves of Jammu and Kashmir tourism. Overlooking the majestic snow-capped peaks of Himalayan Range, Doodal Glacier is a pristine scenic place situated in the region of Trans-Himalaya. Clear blue canopy over the head, misty surroundings, whispers of the native pines and conifer forests and beautiful meadows create a captivating diorama for travellers thronging the place. Though the spot is the hill station in the pahalgam, but still its breathtaking beauty and interesting activities like trekking, hiking and horse riding make it one of the most popular tourist places to visit in Pahalgam.

We were in Pahalgam only for 2 days and had Mr. Ashis Roy of Magic Moments arranged a guide in Pahalgam for us. We were lucky to have Mr. Lone Shaban. He met us in Pahalgam and took care of our hotel arrangement. We then went for lunch to a really nice restaurant in the small town.
After lunch, we did a pony ride to Baisaran and the view is breath taking and the experience is nothing short of amazing. It’s winter when we were there on Christmas week and most of the land is brown. I can imagine how lush and green the landscape would be in summer.
We find Shaban and his company (www.endlesstourandtravels.com) to be very a knowledgeable guide and he speaks really good English. We do look forward to a time when we are really able to do multi day trekking and camping with him.
Double thumbs up to Shaban!
